intresting factoid

From the daily Writer's Almanac published by Garrison Keillor:

It was on this date in 1924 that astronomer Edwin Hubble announced the discovery of other galaxies. At the time, it was thought that our Milky Way galaxy represented the entirety of the universe. Hubble was studying the Andromeda Nebula using the 100-inch Hooker Telescope at Mount Wilson observatory in California. With a weaker telescope, nebulae just looked like clouds of glowing gas, but with the Hooker telescope — the most powerful telescope in the world at that time — Hubble was able to distinguish individual stars within the nebula. One of the stars in the Andromeda Nebula turned out to be a Cepheid variable: a particular type of star that pulsates and is very bright. Astronomers had figured out a decade earlier that, by observing a Cepheid variable and measuring its brightness and the length of time it takes to go from bright to dim and back again, they could calculate the star's distance from the Earth. Hubble crunched the numbers and realized that the star he was observing was 800,000 light-years away, more than eight times the distance of the farthest star in the Milky Way. It was then that he realized that the "cloud of gas" he'd been observing was really another vast galaxy that was very far away. He renamed the Andromeda Nebula the "Andromeda Galaxy," and went on to discover 23 more separate galaxies. His findings proved that, unimaginably vast though it seemed to us, our Milky Way was just one of many little islands of stars.

the ten commandments

The Ten Commandments

20 And God spoke all these words:
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before[a] me.
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor

Genesis 1:1-28

New International Version (NIV)

The Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so. God called the vault “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
And God said, “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters he called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.
11 Then God said, “Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds.” And it was so. 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.
14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.
24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
    in the image of God he created them;
    male and female he created them.
28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.

terra forming

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming_of_Mars

terra forming: It has been a long debated theory. But If it could be done would have a lot of benefits, some  would be scientific, there would be an scientific benefit because we would be able to put science stations on mars to see further into mars, do experiments in the harsh weather of space. Some of the experiments might include advancements in the field of medicine because we would be able to study the effects on the human body from the Martian environment which might lead to techniques to help the human body sustain in the harsh environment of space.
   it would also lead to new technology that would stand up to the environment. I think that the technology that is used of the international space station [i.s.s] like the shielding, recycling systems, etc could be used in a structure on mars that would protect the inhibitions of the station. also mining the ice at the poles of mars would build up storage of water to confide with the recycling of other fluids. also a station could use solar and thermal energy to power the station,

GOD's love and salvation

john 3:16-20 niv
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.

GOD loves us so much that he sent his one and only son to take our punishment, since mankind fell into sin we are separated from GOD by a void because of the sin. when JESUS died on the cross he fulfilled the debt that we owed, we owed a debt of death because of the sin.the sin sent us into damnation but GOD loves us so much that he took our place as the perfect lamb [sacrifice]. when JESUS being perfect and sinless in every way he was able to pay mankind's debt and fill the gap between us and GOD as long as we repent and believe in him and what he did for us.

only faith in the one and only son of GOD will get anyone into heaven,no one can earn their way into heaven in anyway.

Ephesians 2:8-9

New International Version (NIV)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

GOD is loving, just and holy, as a just and holy GOD he will judge us for our actions by his standards, his standard is perfection and mankind with our sinful nature can not measure up to his level of perfection. even people that are good people will remain in eternal damnation if they don't finish repairing the rift between us and GOD.GOD already did his part by sending his son to die in our place, only thing that we need to do is accept GOD [repent] into our hearts and believe in him and what JESUS did for us.then follow GOD the rest of our days.

even if we think we have been good enough we haven't, GOD'S standard is perfect that lust would be adultery,a fib a lie. we need to still keep his commandments but we will never keep them well enough to get to heaven on our own, we need faith in GOD to get to heaven, without faith in GOD we chose eternal condemnation in hell because if someone chooses not to believe in Christ then they chose hell on there own. GOD doesn't send us to hell we send our selves to hell, only faith and forgiveness can gain us entry to heaven. when GOD forgives us of our sins he no longer will hold them against us

Psalm 103:1-13

New International Version (NIV)

Psalm 103

Of David.

Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord works righteousness
    and justice for all the oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses,
    his deeds to the people of Israel:
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him

GOD is a just and holy GOD but is also very loving and kind, the road is a straight and narrow path but is well worth the rewards.

He was just a little boy on the week's first day.
He was wandering home from Sunday school, and dawdling on the way.

He scuffed his shoes into the grass; he found a caterpillar.
He found a fluffy milkweed pod, and blew out all the "filler."

A bird's nest in a tree overhead, so wisely placed on high.
Was just another wonder that caught his eager eye?

A neighbor watched his zig zag course, and hailed him from the lawn;
asked him where he'd been that day and what was going on.

"I've been to Bible School," he said and turned a piece of sod.
He picked up a wiggly worm replying, "I've learned a lot of God."

"M'm very fine way, for a boy to spend his time, “the neighbor said.
"If you'll tell me where God is, I'll give you a brand new dime."

Quick as a flash the answer came! Nor was his accents faint.

"I'll give you a dollar, Mister,
if you can tell me where God ain't."

                                To have faith like a child

Most people don't know what it means to have faith like a child. To have faith like a child means exactly that, to follow GOD with blind faith. walking with blind faith is not easy because we have to do what GOD want us to do without knowing exactly what it is required or what it will cost us.

The disciples questioned Jesus at every turn, in one such occasion was after the disciples had failed to heal a boy with a demon. The mother came in faith to Jesus and Jesus healed the boy. Afterword’s the disciples asked Jesus why they were unable to heal the boy and Jesus told them that they had little faith. Jesus goes onto tell them that if they have faith like a mustard seed they will move mountains and that nothing will be impossible for them. [Matt 17:20] in one verse Jesus told us that through him anything is possible at long as we believe and continue in faith.

So as long as we keep faith in what Jesus did for us on MT Calvary we will have everlasting life, then we will want to follow GOD’s will and we will be able to make it through anything with the power of Jesus. Even though at times life may seem extra difficult but as long as we have faith like a child we will always keep our eyes on GOD and not on worldly things.

Even during Jesus ministry his disciples faltered because of fear and worldly attentions. Even as it mentions on mark 10:14 the disciples tried to keep the children away from Jesus until he rebuked them saying ‘let the children come unto me and do not hinder them for the kingdom of GOD belongs to such as these’. This is a perfect example that we need to follow GOD with faith like children so even if we faultier we will never lose faith in what GOD has in store for us. In this verse the little children knew that JESUS was very good and willingly went too him without question. We need to go to GOD in the same fashion, with blind faith just as the children in mark 10:14.

 In conclusion to have faith like a child is to come to the father by faith and faith alone, we must always put our complete trust in GOD and follow is word and keep his word near our hearts, always so that we might not sin against GOD. Even though life may seem like an impossible task, with total faith in our heavenly father we will always make it through even the hardest situations.

So remember follow GOD with a heart of faith and a mind centered on Jesus. As long as we keep GOD in everything that we do and follow what is instructed of us we will have everlasting life.
